Collect process, alarms, events in real-time
In most cases, Historian collects data from PLCs and/or equipment in real time, using OPC communication drivers. A "store&forward" mechanism enables data to be archived locally in the event of a break with the Historian server.
No database maintenance required
With Historian, collected data is automatically compressed and archived through a high-performance file system, while exposing the data transparently in the universal SQL format for operators.
Collect data from 3rd party systems
Historian also supports data collection from a CSV file in a specific format. Once the file has been analyzed, the data is compressed in the same way as for real-time data collection.
Self-service data analytics
AVEVA Historian Web Client allows you to draw curves from an expression that includes several variable names and the possible use of mathematical functions.
Leverage Excel to analyse process data
In order to enable as many people as possible to make the most of their data, Historian now comes with an add-on for Excel. It's a quick and easy way to extract real-time, historical or aggregated data from Historian, while benefiting from purely Excel features for presenting information.
Build your own Web dashboads
AVEVA Historian Web Client automatically changes the display of data according to units of measurement. For example, an operator can display a temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Data replication
AVEVA Historian allows you to set up secure replication of collected data to another Historian, to AVEVA Insight, to AVEVA Data Hub or to AVEVA PI System. A simple way to centralize all production data in a unified system accessible to as many people as possible.
Statistical calculations
AVEVA Historian lets you quickly and easily set up and archive statistical calculations based on unit data from your equipment. You can then exploit this statistical data via AVEVA analysis tools or third-party tools supporting SQL queries.
Remote data acquisition
Historian supports the delocalization of its acquisition service as close as possible to the equipment, and the totally transparent implementation of local data archiving in the event of a rupture with Historian.
Remote data archiving
By default, collected data is archived locally. However, it is possible to deport part of the collected data to a SAN/NAS, depending on disk volume and/or time period. Data processing remains totally transparent to this configuration.

Are Historian licenses available in subscription mode?
Historian licenses are only available in AVEVA Flex subscription mode.
What are Historian's cybersecurity certifications?
Since 2019, AVEVA Historian has been IEC 62443/ISA99 certified. This international certification is a must in the industrial cybersecurity sector. In addition to this international certification, AVEVA, which has a strong presence on the French market - both for the control and supervision of production plants and critical infrastructures (OIV: Opérateurs d'Importances Vitales), has successfully passed ANSSI (Agence Nationale de la Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information) CSPN certification.
